Five things we do — and we do them properly

We’ve resisted the urge to add a thousand “signature” treatments. The list is short on purpose. Pick one or stack a few — the chair time is yours.

Our Story

A chair on Jalan Maarof, then thirteen more

Northcliff started in 2014 as a single two-chair shop above a kopitiam on Jalan Maarof. The founders, Hafiz and Sebastian, were sick of fifty-ringgit clip-jobs and quoting an hour for a fade. They opened with two rules — no appointments, no upsells — and let the cuts do the talking.

Eleven years on the rules haven’t changed, but the team has grown to 39 barbers across 14 chairs. Every one of them trains in our Bangsar studio for at least eight weeks before they ever pick up clippers on the shop floor.

  • Senior barber on every chair — minimum three years on the clippers.
  • Single posted price list, no surprise add-ons at the till.
  • Sanitised tools per client, fresh capes, freshly laundered towels.
  • Open seven days a week, including most public holidays.
How Walk-In Works

Four steps. Zero phone calls.

No app, no booking link, no “please confirm 24 hours ahead”. We’ve been doing it the simple way since day one.

Pop in

Walk into any of our 14 branches during opening hours. You don’t need to call ahead.

Sign the slate

Add your first name to the chalkboard by the door. Average waits are 10–15 minutes.

Sit. Chat. Or don’t.

Tell your barber what you want, or hand over a photo. Silence is welcome too.

Pay, tip if you like

Tap, scan or cash. Tipping isn’t expected — but our barbers are quietly grateful.

Honest reviews from real regulars

★★★★★

Been getting my fade at the TTDI chair for three years. Even on a Saturday lunch rush I’ve never waited more than twenty minutes, and the cut is identical every single time.

My eight-year-old used to scream blue murder at salons. The Junior Styles chair at Mid Valley turned him into a cooperative little gentleman. Wizardry.

The hot-towel shave at the Damansara chair is a forty-minute holiday from email. I’ve booked it for every wedding I’ve been to in the last two years.

Walked in on a Wednesday at 6pm, walked out by 6:45 with the sharpest taper I’ve had since moving back from London. Honest pricing, no upsell theatre.

FAQ

Questions we get at the till

Do I need to book a chair in advance?
No — Northcliff is walk-in only. Pop into any branch during opening hours and the next available barber will take you. We post live wait estimates on our Locations page on weekends.
How long does a cut usually take?
Roughly 30–45 minutes for a haircut, 25 minutes for a beard sculpt, and around 60 minutes for the Northcliff Combo (cut + beard + hot-towel finish). We don’t rush the chair time.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash in Ringgit, all major debit and credit cards, GrabPay, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, DuitNow QR and Apple Pay. We don’t accept cryptocurrency or foreign currency.
Do you cut women’s hair?
We’re primarily a men’s and boys’ barbershop, but we welcome anyone after a barber-style short cut, fade or buzz. For long-hair styling we’d recommend a salon partner — happy to suggest one.
Where can I find you?
14 chairs across Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Subang, Shah Alam, Klang and Penang Island. Full address list, Waze pins and weekend wait estimates live on our Locations page.
Can I tip my barber?
Tipping is welcome but never expected. Our barbers earn a fair monthly base salary plus profit share, so a kind word and a return visit count for plenty.
